Hensley Family Testimony

Our prayer is that God would be glorified in the sharing of our testimony. Our lives have been changed and transformed by Him we are thankful for the gift of faith and salvation. We are thankful for His patience and love as He continues to mold and shape us by that same grace as we journey with Him as our Lord and Savior.

In the mid to late 2000s Jason surrendered to the Holy Spirit leading him to ministry. That call was confirmed by his pastor and church body at the time. Jason and his family began to pray for the Lord to direct them to the ministry path He desired for their family. While they prayed, Jason was asked to fill in preaching at his local congregation from time to time and at other churches in the area. Jason continued seeking the Lord diligently and in time He began to lead Jason toward international missions. After another long season of praying and listening for the Lord’s guidance, God gradually led Jason toward Africa. This was definitely an act of the Lord, as Jason did not have a desire to go to Africa. Jason and Mandy began looking at several countries in Africa. Many people in their lives were involved in various African ministries or adoptions at that time and they had personal interests in certain countries.

The Hensley’s changed congregations on good terms with their former pastor, mentor, and long-time friend after much prayer in 2010. Shortly after, an opportunity to travel with a small team from the new congregation arose. Jason and Mandy flew to Zambia Africa in the summer of 2010. Zambia had not been one of the countries the Hensley’s were looking at, but they knew by the influence of the Holy Spirit they were to go on this trip. God provided every cent for them to travel and He made a way where there seemed no possible way for them to go.

Once there, Jason and Mandy both recall the Holy Spirit impressing upon them that Zambia felt like home. Not one to trust “feelings” or to make quick, impulsive decisions, Jason took many months to pray and seek the Lord about the family moving to Zambia. After Jason traveled to Zambia in March of 2011 he informed Mandy in May the Lord was indeed leading their family to Zambia. Mandy had also been impressed by the Spirit for months of the same calling. They continued to pray and seek the Lord knowing and trusting the Lord would faithfully direct and reveal His plan in His timing.

In mid-2013 God would work in an incredible chain of events that would reunite the Hensley family with an organization they briefly touched and visited in 2010. Wiphan Care Ministries, an organization led by a team of deeply rooted believers in GA, was looking for a family to serve their organization in Zambia. The Hensley’s were a family knowing they were called to Zambia, but not sure what organization the Lord wanted them to serve. The Hensley family drove to Atlanta to meet some of the leaders of Wiphan. As the Hensley’s shared how the Lord was leading them toward evangelism with a strong emphasis on discipleship, the Wiphan leaders shared discipleship was one of the ministry needs of the organization! In addition to a family with a passion for the Lord and discipleship, the leaders of Wiphan were also looking for someone with business and technology experience! The Lord was making it clear to both the Hensley’s and those at Wiphan this was truly a match orchestrated by the Lord. The Hensley’s began to pray and ask the Lord to provide for their needs to travel to Zambia. In time the Lord began to open the flood gates of opportunity for the Hensley Family to share the fullness of this testimony.

Throughout the entire journey the Lord has been working externally around us, but more importantly He has been working In us. The Lord has used the “waiting” to actually be busy working in us. Through trials, challenges, rest and relationships, the Lord has worked to reveal areas of sin in our lives, teach us, draw us nearer to Him and increase our faith in Him alone. We prepare to go to the field knowing that there is nothing about the Hensley’s that is capable of ministering apart from the Lord our God. It is in Him and for Him we go and we completely trust Him for every need. We are all a part of HIS story and we are grateful to be a vapor of a part. We pray He Alone is glorified every step of our journey and many will respond in faith to His gospel and their relationship with the Lord is strengthened in faith. Thank you for your interest in the Lord’s work in our lives and for your support as we minister for Him in Zambia.

"Surely our griefs He Himself bore, And our sorrows He carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,Smitten of God, and afflicted.
